“We've finished the death phase, and now we're in the non-life phase.” Rami Abu Jamous, Gazan journalist

Today, space is being dominated by deadly dogmas whose spread seems unstoppable;
approved and fuelled by genocidal states and the economic support of international
accomplices who murder both people and their memories, leaving the field open
to confusion and betrayal of memory.
In November 2023, poet and teacher Refaat Alareer, targeted like so many others
by Israeli strikes along with seven members of his family, publishes his last poem:
If I Must Die
. Refaat Alareer requests of us, that we « must live » to create a kite
- a long-standing object of resistance - with “a piece of cloth and some strings”.
Each of its readers, receives this poem as an inheritance, each bits of string
becomes a stance against silences and impartiality.

Launched in March 2024, amid the intolerable silence of the world, Some Strings
has sincebeen shown in over 50 countries, not without struggle, but supported
by the efforts of numerous partners. All of the films were made without conditions
by more than 100 artists and filmmakers from different geographical, artistic,
and social backgrounds: “so that trauma does not lose its social power to create
bonds that do not yet exist, communities without limits or borders.”
These films don't stop the disappearance of others, brutal killings, they don't
alleviate hunger, they don't heal the wounded, they don't feed children,
but they do help to redefine understanding. It is by shifting one's gaze that one's
thoughts move.

“We must remember that genocide occurs whenever we deny the organic link
of populations to genos, to what we have in common”  Vladimir Safatle.

Some Strings is over 7 hours of movies, shown in theaters, at festivals,
in the streets, and in camps, either as a pre-show or continuously.
It can be adapted to all kinds of spaces. This initiative is still growing.

Dreams of the Tent – Neama Hassan
When you ask me about my fear,
I talk about the death of the coffee vendor
And my skirt that became a roof of a tent.
I talk about my cat that I left in the gutted city,
And now it meows on repeat in my head.
I want a large cloud that cannot rain,
And an aeroplane that throws candy,
And coloured walls where I can draw
A child with open arms,
Smiling.
These are the dreams of my tent.
I love you,
I have enough courage
To climb a building that no longer exists,
And leap into your arms.
Then confess that I am well.
Please, ask me about my fear again!

FUNDRAISING to welcome Neama Hassan

Originally from Rafah, where she lived with her family until they were forcibly displaced in October 2023, she now survives under a tent with her children, after a dozen displacements.

We have only our eyes,
a frame, and the light to say
what others erase.

SURVIVING THE DISASTER We won't succeed separately
There is an urgent need to raise awareness and collectively increase public debate around possible and exciting non-growth-based visions of the world, which would enable the emergence of alternative structures and spaces to the different forms of exploitation that are currently on the rise.
With a pluralistic and diverse perspective, without forgetting the immense debt that the North owes to the South for the damage caused. Aware of the role played by certain social classes and lifestyles in contributing to the problem. In short, it is a matter of moving away as urgently as possible from the dominant narrative, which is leading us toward collapse.
It is also time to remember that mutual aid is an old friend of humanity, one of its most beautiful expressions. It has always been the mainstay that has enabled us to overcome all the crises we have faced throughout history. Now, as then, it will be key to facing the challenge ahead.
Surviving the Disaster was originally conceived by Stéphane Bernatas Chassaigne and Javier Rueda Solves.

RADIO FIREFLY FREQUENCIES Silvia Maglioni, Nikolay Oleynikov, Alessandra Pomarico, Graeme Thomson
Born in 2020, Firefly Frequencies is a radio platform that brings together artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, theorists and other collaborators from many different countries. For us radio is first and foremost a place of gathering where many voices can meet, mix, transform. A membrane, a communal body that perpetually reinvents itself through different modalities and temporalities, through the dimensions of creation and care and the shared powers of reception and receptivity.

PALESTINE FILM INDEX has now reached 400 films, 41 texts, 4 audio sources & is still growing daily. The index starts with films from the revolutionary period (68 - 82) made by the militant filmmakers of the Palestine Film Unit and their allies and extends through a multitude of voices to the present day.

The Hind Rajab Foundation is a branch of the March 30 Movement  mainly dedicated to the quest for justice in response to the crimes against humanity, war crimes and human rights violations perpetrated by the Israeli state against Palestinians. Our core mission is to actively pursue legal action against those responsible for these atrocities, including perpetrators, accomplices, and inciters of violence against Palestinians. Help us stay independent

Forensic Architecture : Cartography of Genocide platform and accompanying report develops a comprehensive mapping of military conduct in Gaza since 7 October 2023. The report, ‘A Spatial Analysis of the Israeli Military’s Conduct in Gaza since October 2023,’ is derived from Forensic Architecture’s ongoing research into the Israeli military’s conduct in Gaza and was provided to South Africa (SA) after being approached by SA to provide independent research and reporting for their ongoing submission in the case of Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel). For the provision of this report, Forensic Architecture received payment from South Africa.

Academic Solidarity With Palestine
Academic Solidarity With Palestine, organises online courses for students in Gaza. To date, over 350 courses have been offered with the help of more than 3,500 volunteer professors worldwide.

Publishers for Palestine
is a global collective of publishers, and others who work in publishing around the world, who stand for justice, freedom of expression, and the power of the written word.

Nobody can say they didn’t know,” says Palestinian writer, Susan Abulhawa

@AJIunit investigation exposes war crimes in Gaza through the medium of photos and videos posted online by Israeli soldiers themselves during the year-long conflict. Watch the full film here.

Life for Gaza

Each Cent Counts, Quenching the Thirst of Humanity in Gaza City

The Gaza Municipality is tasked with providing vital services such as water supply, waste management and sewage treatment. However, the widespread destruction in Gaza City has severely hampered the Municipality's ability to deliver even the most basic necessities to its residents. (For access in English, select the language from the العربية tab at the top left of the site screen)

A call for immediate action to rebuild Gaza
Architects for Gaza proposes the formation of Gaza Reconstruction Collective; interdisciplinary self-help clusters to help in reconstruction.

United screens for Palestine
United Screens for Palestine is an open and decentralised collective of programmers, cultural workers and venues. We are responding to the paralysis brought about by the ongoing genocide as well as the increasing policing, censorship and criminalisation of everything Palestinian. We aim to make each screening a space for conversation, learning and most of all, mobilisation. And we firmly believe that to present these films is to insist that witnessing is an active process, far beyond the act of watching. Ultimately, we build on long standing global film initiatives which serve as platforms for substantive discussions and an earnest exploration of the historical narrative of Palestine.

We'll keep on giving news about initiatives throughout the world.
